Why did Ferndale seek a partnership with Cambridge?
In the summer of 2014, the Curriculum and Instruction Department began researching accelerated programs that would prepare students for the rigors of high school and provide middle school students with more opportunities for an enriched experience. We investigated the International Baccalaureate, Springboard (the middle school prep program for the College Board’s Advanced Placement), and Cambridge. After extensive research, conversations with representatives from all of these programs and other districts that use them, and district employees’ previous experiences with the programs, we decided that Cambridge is the best program for Ferndale available based on the quality of the curriculum, responsiveness from the organizations, and cost-effectiveness. We have been very pleased with Cambridge throughout the application process, which further strengthened our commitment to and excitement about a potential partnership.
